Here are a few applications you can use to make your own podcast, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each.

What can YOU do with Audacity? What can you encourage your students to do?

You can :

• add audio to texts, like short stories or poems.
• add audio to clip art or images for vocabulary learning
• record dialogues and then add to texts or drawings
• record songs using mp3 files edited with Audacity

Some disadvantages of Audacity

• You must download the software onto your hard drive. So it must be on the computer that you are using.
• You must remember to save your files in mp3 or mav formats
• You must remember the folder in which the files are saved
• You need a Java script to encrust the audio file into the webpage

You can

• get people's opinions on topics of interest
• have students record presentations,interviews or research they have done

There are other applications which go just a bit further.

You can:

•  use your video camera to make your own short films and upload these along the audio. 
•  make tutorials for your students giving them instructions
• make a slide show and have your students write the story
• make a slide show with people and have your students write the dialogue

• have your students create their own stories by uploading their own photos and images
• have your students do presentations with pictures or video 
• have your students do short role plays, record their voices and/or film it
• share their work with you, their classmates or friends and family.
